I've no idea what that means, but I've got a haynes (and now the translation thanks for Neil), and a mate who's handy, so shall try have a look over the weekend if I've got time.

    Thanks.

Well it's in now and the friend who lives above the garage just popped down to ask how it was going for me. Mechanic's said it looks like the motor's done for. He's had to pop out for a bit (hopefully trying to track down a spare from a scrappy), so I'm not sure exactly what to expect. However, my mate said it's likely to cost quite a bit.

    BLEH!

I'd try looking up the parts online myself... but i've no idea what i'm looking for.

Replaced the rear wiper motor on the wifes car a while ago, cost was £15 from ebay. Took about 1.5 hours to fit.

IME ......be precise about make /model of car if ordering new (from motoparts). There are (sorry...... "is" in our modern parlence) likely to be 15 different fitments!

Have the chassis no. to hand. Its the only way to avoid endless wild goose chases.

Maybe better to know a friendly garage. I was running my Dad's old audi coupe years ago....it needed a new brake compensation valve in the middle. 125 quid for an audi part, the lad fitted one off an old (scrap) "80" (this is going back a good ten years) for 25.......:MILD:

Agree, it shouldn't be a big or expensive job to be honest MO, I wouldn't panic too much about the final bill :)

Right, just spoke to mechanic and he's said it is the wiper motor. Said he's not priced one up yet, but expects it'll be "a few bob" :(
Suggested I try looking for one on the internet and get back to him.

Not really sure where or what I'm looking for so any help appreciated. Wiper motor and the linkage?

    Car's a Seat Ibiza 1.4SXE R reg (98).

yeah, try a scrap yard too - that's where I got mine from...was about 60 quid....not to say that the same thing couldn't happen to that too the next day...!

the issue I had was that the linkage arm had snapped - he was going to sort it out by flipping it upside down and using a cable tie (pure bodge job!) but he had trouble getting the driverside wiper from it's mount - he pounded away until it came out and got it sorted....except when he put it together the motor had broke!

Wish I'd read this before buying! Got a motor for £20.... but no linkage. Phoned mechanic and he said should be fine, just drop it in monday and he'll fit it in between jobs.

    We shall see... thanks :)

Well, I've zero previous experience of car ownership. He could have asked for double, tripple... and I'd have not known any better.

£50 I'd rather not have spent obviously, but not too bad.

He seems like a good un. I realised I'd left my wallet at home when I went to pick it up. He said no problem, just drop in whenever I can.
