It gets worse, I've been <splutter>biamping</splutter> with the Leak and Sonneteer recently. I'm, like, so damned...

Edit: what do your C7s sit on Joel?

I'm seriously thinking of following Markus' recommendation and going down the Accuphase A20 route (actually about 95% decided; it's just a matter of working out the financial details). Ultimately the setup would be biamped to give me 80 class A watts per channel and four super-funky VU meters - which is what really counts... TBH REG's arguments against biamping don't hold water, and could be equally applied to stereo amps.

I currently use Sound Anchor stands (which until quite recently were almost "de rigeur" on the mailing list). These are actually three-legged B&W 805 stands that work well with the C7s.
I'm currently having a Peruvian master craftsman weld me a pair of custom four-legged frame stands - without a top plate - for the grand total of about 60 quid.

I quite like the look of the Custom Design RS300 Reference stands - they only list heights as 510mm or 610mm which IMO is way too high for the (520mm high) Compact 7's - 410mm would be ideal I reckon. I might drop them a line and see if they can do shorter ones to order.

Oh, and they haven't been wife approved yet - think I'll show them to her before sending the e-mail ;)

    Matt,
You want the tweeter at ear level when listening. Harbeths are designed for use this way. 500mm sounds about right (even a little low).

Depends upon the height of the seating really. I checked last night and it worked out that 900mm would be about right. I guess this probably ties in with the height of the average floorstander (which seem to generally be somewhere between 800-1000mm).

Matt, I saw this on the emporium site. I think it is cableway design.

    B&W 805 HNE granite stands 250

Im not certain if the height of the stand would be the required height for you. I would imagine the top plate would be about the right size though?

Chris - can you tell me what the actual website name is for the emporium as I'd like to take a look. The only slight issue is that the Harbeths are a full 100mm taller then the B&W's.

    Thanks,

    Matt.
