The rechargeable batts on my cd walkman have died after a good few years of regular use. They are the type you leave in and plug a charger directly into the Walkman. Do I have to get special sony ones or can I chuck any rechargeable AA batteries in there with the same effect?

While I'm here...another battery question. I've got a jessops recharger and bettery set, when you plug it in the LEDs light up to show its charging and go out after a few hours which I'd always assumed was when they were done but I read the instructions and it said "the LEDs will go out after 10 hours" or whatever....with no mention that the charging would stop at that point. So does that mean I need to unplug them after the charging time is up or will the charging have stopped when the lights go out?

    Cheers!

You SHOULD be able to use standard batteries so long as they're the correct type (I'm guesing NiCad??).

As for the Jessops charger, it'll go into trickle-charge mode after the batteries are full (at least, that's the way the 3 chargers I have work).

Yeah they're Sony NiCd ones. I'll chuck in a couple of NiCd rechargeables and see what happens then I suppose.
    Cheers Dom.
