Couldn't resist... check this system out!

I am getting a light solid oak piece of furniture made to hide my system, cables and other tv related boxes inside. This will match the style of the rest of my house and furniture. I will pop a cd in, set the volume and just close the door on it. I find if you have a remote to hand then I'll just fiddle with it, so not concentrating on the music as much. Below is a link to the one I want, called MOD425. I want one with only two cupboards wide however, which will cost 800 with vat and delivery. I'll put my cd player on a townsend sink inside there for isolation. (Anyone have a link for townsend - can't find them anywhere!)

These people offer mesh doors if you really must fiddle with a remote!....

Hmmm... it all comes down to how microphonic the components in the amp are...

I don't recall seeing a manufacturer built suspend amp, but I bet there is one! Taking things back a notch, surely plenty of amp manufacturers do worry about how resonant the casework is, and either build or damp accordingly?

Well, quite. I made this same point to a support 'believer' in a Usenet group, and he trotted out the line that if a good support could improve the sound of a turntable, it 'must' do the same for amplification. I mean, all those transistors must obviously wobble about like mad unless placed on a rigid stand!

Some things are more sesitive than others like TT's and cdp's, putting all my kit on a good support the difference was clear. Its easy to assume from that, that everything benefits but in reality it's more likley to be just the difference to the cdp that is heared. There is a lot of talk about valves liking to be isolated from vibrations, which sounds reasonable (if only from a long life POV) but I have no experience of valves to comment, although my valve pre nu-vista m3 sounds no different isolated or no.

I'm sure there are and if they do and they build accordingly then their products are a) well designed from that point of view and b) don't need dedicated stands. Or maybe put another way if an amp needs a dedicated stand ... then surely its a piece of crap.

PS. I hadn't thought of valves, but in general my argument still stands I think. If CDPs are that sensitive to their environment, then a well designed CDP will take that into account as part of the design.

Hmmmm... I dunno, visually the setup looks very messy and cluttered. But at the end of the day, I suppose the most important thing is how the system sounds which is difficult to comment just on pictures alone. So come on, cut the guy some slack. Alot of people here do sound like sour grapes.
