If one was to report a person for a continuing crime (a rather petty one but also a dangerous one) but be very vague about who they were but left vital information so this person could be cought do they pass the information onto the police?

Will the police act on it or will they just take the information to be unreliable?

    Hi AT,

depends on the infomation if the Police are going to act on it. The thing is that you don't have to give your name or address. You make the calls anonymously.

Thanks already reported it, I was very very vague about who I was but I gave them very specific information. As longs as they tell the local police station about it will ok, the only information I gave them was a registration number , I didn't tell them where I have seenthis take place or anything.

Doesn't matter if its a mobile or a land line. They can trace the number what ever. Even if you "withold" it by dialling 141 before calling the number. Of course if you call from a phone box the number isn't much use.

HAHA!! No this crime is nothing pathetic like that, its actually quite a lot more serious but its not a crinimal crime as such. I have already reported it now and I phoned from a call box. The person knows he has been reported but has no idea its me yet.Hopefully this threat might make him think twice before he does it again.

PS I phoned from a call box, the only reason I didn;t go to the police directly is that it complicates things.
