Dipping toe in water

It's an artificial stimulant.
I really don't like ProAcs (and I've tried a couple), they sound artifical and smooth to me.
But that's me, and that probably reflects the music I listen to and the way I listen.

What, with a balaclava and crash helmet?

For me, the Harbeths sounded more real in some respects, the Proacs in others. But if either of them could be accused of sounding smooth and nicee, then it wasn't the Proacs ;)

I think the C7ES or more likely the M30 might be worth a listen, I would certainly recommend anyone looking for speakers to give Harbeths a listen (provided you are single).

No I don't. That was simply how I've heard it in "good will". You and Robbo heard different, as a subjectivist you can live with that I think.

I know Joel :D

On a seious note, the Harbeths do possess a timbral accuracy that the Proacs (and most other speakers) simply cannot match. They are world class in that repect and I do wish they would have worked in my room.

But listen to the 1sc, the D38 and the D80/D100 and you will understand why the Prozac term is highly misleading.

so despite being both deaf and blind, he's managed to grope his way to a half-decent hi-fi.

Ian,

You say the nicest things :D

although being deaf does have its compensation, it means I can't hear the music you bring over and play on my system. I just look at the faces of the others in the room to know what it's like :D
