First for me was Musical Youths album - fantastic it is too:)

Worst has to be Bjork's latest (probably still upset because I love all of her other stuff)

Latest: Tori Amos - took about 7 listens, but I think its a corker now.
Also, Pearl Jam, live in Japan - SUPERB.

First was the 'Songs From The Kids From Fame' album. Even at aged 8 (or around there), I knew there was something going on with Lori Singer and that cello. I just didn't know what.

Worst is a bit like TonyL's - I have an awful (geddit) lot of very bad records which have been purchased for different reasons. Off the top of my head, "Honky Tonkin' with Digits McPhee" is the winner.

Last is a few albums from sideshowbob, including LCD Soundsystem, Damien Rice, Devendra Banhart. Looking forward to hearing them soon, although I don't know how they'll compete with my man Digits.

    1st - Paddy McGinty's Goat - Val Doonican (aged 6 or 7)
or.. a few years later .... possibly I should really count my 1st purchase as:
    Moving Waves - Focus

Worst - ...interesting I've probably bought a fair bit that didn't do for me what I hoped it would, but that's not quite the same as "bad"
    So..
bad taste - probably Klaus Nomi - bought for the 'Nomi Song' which I still rather like :)

    Latest -
purchase - Cab Calloway (CD), His Best Side; Paul McCartney, Pipes of Peace; Sky1; Sky2; The Kings Singers (all Vinyl) ... all charity shop purchases
Previous real purchases - PIL, The Greatest Hits So Far; Pearl Jam, 10

and CDs from the local library all the time - latest: David Bowie, Heathen; Rick Wakeman, Prayers

Shame on you for not getting into him before. Well done for getting into him now. Probably still my all time favourite artist.

First single was Abba - Waterloo :EEEK: and first album was the American Hot Wax soundtrack (loads of rock'n'roll from Sceamin Jay etc)

Bad records are in the ear of the beholder - most unlistenable are:
    Door and the Window ep
    Residents - Satisfaction 7"
    DAF - Gewalt
You've got Foetus on your Breath - 333
    Steve Lacy - Moon
(Though all of them have some sort of weird charm - bad as in "how could they" are Beatles - I wanna hold your hand which I keep as a lesson to any visiting Beatles fans)

    Latest:
    Ruts - Best of
The Bad Plus (whatever it's called)
    Bartok piano concertos 1-3

    First: Oasis - Definitely Maybe

Worst: Any of the Pure Garage series (I have them all, for some reason which now escapes me I was once really into garage)

Latest: The Cardigans - First Band On The Moon

Don't know what the first was.
Worst was probably No Limits by 2Unlimited. A real corker that one :)
The latest was a few bits I found in the sale in HMV. Basically the only things in there that weren't £16+

    Medúlla?

If thta's the worst album in your collection, it must be a ****ing good collection!

Interesting how much MOre response a thread about music gets on here than it would have perhaps got on the music section

I forgot to mention that I dont count anything the wife bought:)

I'll give Medulla on more try.

PS - for any Tori Amos fans - she is playing at the wolverhampton civic early june, supported by Tom McRae (I have his just like blood album) - he is one miserable barsteward but was good live at the V festival a couple of years ago!

First LP - Muppet show volume 1 - still own and it rocks!

First bought with my own money - NOW10 on tape (didn't have a turntable worthy of mention).

Worst? "Rhythm of the rain" - Jason Donovan - a 1989 "tree" present at chrimbo - mum must have been "treed" to give this then-14 year old such cack. Better than the only other tape she bought me ("God, make us your family" - hymns - I kid you not!).

Of course, most people'd say my worst is "The collection" by Sam Fox. Sod 'em - "I surrender (to the spirit of the night)" is an 80s classic, and thus worthy of the 50p the CD cost me!

Latest - "The power of numbers" - Jurassic 5 (CD), and on vinyl, from the record fair in Exeter this weekend, "Cosmogony Of The Pentateuch" by Greenslade - I know NOTHING about them, but any hardback book with 2 LPs in, and about 100 pages of GORGEOUS full-colour artwork HAS to be a bargain for £2. It was begging to be bought!

She's also playing Glastonbury (so long as she doesn't clash with Ian Brown, I'll get to see her (my mate Ed REALLY wants to see Ian Brown, but since he'll need sighted guide to get to that gig...)

I don't "get" Medulla at all - it's nothing in comparison to her early work IMHO. Too avante garde.

Tones - try "She's electric" on your Oasis album - it might well be what you're looking for when compared with "Don't look back in anger"

Bloody annoying, i have had e-mail notifications for all the USA gigs but not for this and my nearest venu doesn't even have 2 seats together :( Have to say £32 per ticket is a lot? Just bought Tom McRae's latest and its pretty good.

I say you dont like music if you didnt go through ''dodgy taste periods!"

    mine was in my mid-teens.

    my worst albums were -
    Europe- Final Countdown
    Bobby Brown - My perrogative
Bruce Willis - the return of bruno

hehehe what a pile of crock!

my first slab of vinyl was the single release of ''The Trooper'' by Iron Maiden. I bought it before I liked heavy metal because I liked the artwork... my next was 'lets get physical' by olivier newton john - because I fancied her rotten!

Actually, on sober reflection I think my worst-ever record isn't 'I Lost My Heart to a Starship Trooper', but 'Discreet Music by Brian Eno.

pentateuch of the cosmogany is fcuking brilliant dom and the art is fantastic. a steal for 2 quid.

worst albums for me, well take your pick from any of my many gigs worth of happy hardcore and cheesy 80's techno from the likes of 2 unlimited and the like. but the utter utter worst ever cd i bought is:
the astral scene by the astral projection - truly awful hippy bollocks not to be confused (like i did) with astral projection - a storming goa trance act.
there are also some truly foul recordings of some gershwin that i bought for a five (and pait 4.99 over the odds for imho).

my first record was 'tradgedy' by the beegees and 2nd was paranoid by black sabbath - hey, start as eclecticly as you mean to go on.

latest bunch to hit the doormat were
    juno reactor - labyrinth
    plastikman - sheet one
jam & spoon - tripomatic fairytales
    nitin sawhney - philtre
    happy mondays - greatest hits.

    cheers
