Somewhere between a sidegrade and downgrade I think. Why do software producers ever think that adding slowness and consuming extra bandwidth is acceptable?

I agree that it's worse now than before. If it aint broke, don't fix it.

There's always one :D . Sure, there's more DHTML and CSS which will cause a small increase in bandwidth and slowness but it's not noticably slower to me. I think the new usability features far outweigh the negatives.

The "Quick Reply" box will save a fair amound of bandwidth (if people use it) as it will save having to load the "reply" page each time.

Are you one of those people who thinks that any text editor beyond vi is just bloatware? :p

James - I would have had to upgrade sooner or later anyway. vBulletin aren't going to keep supporting the old version of the software for ever.

I like this quick reply feature. I have used VB3 on a student forum I frequent, it get lots of server busy messages even though its hosted on its own rackspace server. However I don't think its the software to blame .

The only problem is this site looks identical to another forum I go on and I have the same user name. I just hope I don't get mixed up.
