Looking for a high-quality valve preamp around the £500 mark. Anything good out there?

The annoying thing is in recent times I've had two fantastic pres that would have really done the job here ... they just didn't suit the very high-sensitivity monoblocks I had at the time.

I've had a trawl already in the obvious places, just wondering if there's anything languishing in a cupboard somewhere .....

    Hi monty99,

Guess you've checked these shops already, but just in case you haven't:

The Croft Micro is a lovely machine and the passive Rothwell may suit you as well.

The Audio Note's to die for, just to highlight one out of that list.

I've purchased from them before. Proff and troublefree. Thus my personal recommendation. If you were to buy a Croft Micro, I'd buy a new one, since the price is great. Here, for example:

Adrian Parsons know his bit and would help you and guide you honestly.

    Enjoy your quest :)!

    Regards,
