So do I, but to hear anything so often is the aural equivalent of Chinese Water Torture.

    Hi,

There is a free ticket on the October edition of HiFi News, that has just come out.

<< Eat before you go or be prepared to pay through the nose for a sandwich that probably fell off a nearby plane. >> It won't have Gate Gourmet written on it.

I heard soem stuff last year that impressed me: Brinkmann, 47Labs, Pathos. Interesting to see what can be done.

As has been mentioned, you also get the chance to meet up some forum persona.

It is just a day out, see if there is anything new. Unfortunately the room acoustics are painly awful and the music is crap.

Sounds good. I have lots of albums with music played by goat herders (FWIW, the instrument is far more likely to be a one or two-string vertical fiddle, and any drug some variation on kat). THe good news is that I do also have a CD that nearly matches your description: Resurrections for Goatskin is by a guy called Raz Mesinai and it's on the Tzadik label.
Highly unlikely any exhibitor would play it at a hifi show, however.

Does anyone know the best way to get there by train? I can get to London easy enough from here (Gravesend) along the Charring Cross line but from there I don't really know where I am meant to be going! Would it be easier to give Ya-Boo £20 for a lift?

    Thanks,
    Simon

Tenson - I would pay for a lift if I were you. There have been some problems on the tube line that goes to heathrow since the bombings (might be ok by now though). Even if thats ok you wouldnt save much and it will be a pain in the ass for you. Also its right at the end of the Picadilly line in zone 6, so youd probably end up going right into London and then all the way back out again to the outskirts.

Gromit - I think Friday is trade day.

Arse (thought having the day off was too good to be true) :(

    I won't bother going then.

Yes, I'd booked Friday off too. When I bought tickets online it gave you the choice of all three days. It was only when another mate bought HiFi News for the free ticket that we found out.
Luckily I can still go on Saturday.
From the exhibitor list it looks like it should be more interesting than Bristol, more valves and wacky speakers, less AV.

Anybody can go on trade day! It used to be that trade really was conducted on the trade day. Not anymore, and most of the people are just savy public who don't like crowds.

I want to listen to the Zanden CD combo. I am told it sounds amazing.
