Help Me

e bay can be quite good , but look through the free ads first , local papers etc.

i pulled this of e bay a few weeks back , a great little amp although 10? years old still holds its own with fairly expencive amps these days.

i was looking through the paper today and found a quad 303 pre with a quad 33 power amp for £50 , 150 - 200 on e bay. the same lady was selling an a+r turntable , a tuner , some mission speakers and speaker stands for 90 quid. thats not bad going.

defo look through the local papers , free ads before turning to e bay.

i wouldn't buy a cd player with that cdm12 mechanism. if i was looking for a 2nd hand cd player, i'd look at the Sony QS and ES lines and the Kenwood 4090 and 7090 players. Denons are ok too I guess. Technics- very reliable, but oh-so dull sounding and lacking in detail.

amps- marantz ones are ok but channels do die occasionally like what happened on my pm44se. audiolabs are fine, arcams are ok, again, sony qs and es stuff is fairly good. yamahas are well built but very harsh sounding.

speakers- hmm. nothing flimsy like own brand acoustic solutions, ideally not eltax either. missions of late esp the m7x series and the 700 series (of late 90s) are fairly flimsy. can't go wrong with tannoys really except the mr's which are shockingingly bad sq. mordaunt shorts are excellent all rounders :)
