Hotmail have breen trying to flog me extra storage capacity for emails for years and years.

Ive just noticed my account size has increased and I now have a whopping 250MB of storage capacity.

Has the same thing happened to you if you are with hotmail? Is it just for a limited length of time or something?

No, this is normal. One of my accounts went up a couple of months ago, the other went up more recently.

What happened was that google released their G-mail service, which offers 1GB of space, but reads your emails for targeted spamming.

So, yahoo increased their mail accounts from 6MB to 100MB, to try to get people to stay with them.

Hotmail could not be outdone on this, so upgraded from 2MB to 250MB. The change is permanent. You can also now send attachments up to 10MB, rather than the 1MB that used to be allowed.

FastMail OTOH upgraded my (paid for) e-mail account from roughly 500Mb to 2Gb :)

That's fine if you don't mind them reading your e-mail for targetted spamming.

If having your email read is "nowt" to you, yes.

\honestly guys all this webmail stuff, the best way to get rid of spam is mailwasher, i've mentioned it before, but you get chance to read your mail before you download it, it can then be bouced and/or deleted, flagged as spam, domaiin or sender, and next time is automaticaly deleted, very inexpensive, i pop 3 mail account in free version, multiple and hotmail in $30 dollar version, they all so do (firetrust MW's developer)a programme called benign that washes the 1 pixel hidden info and stuff from mails you do download., google firetrust for a free go, i wouldn't be without mailwasher.

FastMail does all that and more. Uses SpamAssassin. FastMail is so good that I rarely use the mail client on my PC (Thunderbird).

Mailwasher does that too, but you need subscription, you can also obtain cracked versions.

I never download the automails from here, I can read them in mailwasher and click on the link, then delete them from pop3 inbox.

So foir those looking for alternative to fastmail, then try Mailwasher.

I have yet to have any Spam via GMail, and they can read my emails as much as they like, there aint much to read.I have long since stopped worrying about these things, life on the web gets to complicated if you worry about every scare story that hits the forums.

anyway,i suppose by read, you dont mean actually read, you mean some sort of bot looking for threads of material to spam me with?

My paid for Hotmail account has the same - also has 20mb attachment limit and I can sync it with Mail on my mac. Pretty handy.
