I rearranged all my AV stuff this weekend onto a cheapo AV stand, and my cable box is now fooked! I plugged it in LAST after wiring all the SCARTS and cable feed in.

Basically, either the left channel produces MONUMENTAL hiss, or silence, even when using the loopthrough (with a Playstation connected). The SCART lead is fine...

Have I blown it through static or something? It's a real POS Pace crapheap, if that makes a difference??? I think Eurosmell should just replace it...

I was thinking static but I have built many many PCs while taking only basic precautions witohut problems. Could it be possibly a power surge is everything plugged into the same place? I blew up a radio deck once while moving stuff around, it was a power surge which blew the control IC up.

Maybe a power surge, yeah. Either way, I spent about 10 minutes trying to explain to the moron on the other end what the problem was; she was trying to claim the remote wasn't working my telly (urm, since when does a broken cable box have anything to do with it's remote, let alone the telly!?) and it took all my willlpower to NOT blow up at her myself!

Either way, have the cable dude coming out on Saturday, so this could be interesting.
