Portugal won't let Ashley Cole saunter up and down the left wing to his heart's content like Croatia did ;) . I was amazed that Croatia didn't do something about that in the 2nd half.

Figo doesn't seem to be playing aswell as he used to but he's still been important in setting up some of Portugal's goals. He should pass the ball more quickly though. IMO Ronaldo is every bit as good as Rooney and I hope that he and Rooney are allowed to play and there are no dirty attempts to "take out" either player.

I haven't been that impressed with Beckham TBH. Sure, his passes still have uncanny accuracy and are perfectly judged but he rarely seems to run with the ball. His corners and free kicks don't seem to be quite as spot on as they used to be either.

    Michael.

    So, the Italians are out!!!

There was a lot of talk about the outcome if there was a 2-2 draw in the Sweden Denmark game, and it happened! Don't think any of the 10 additional cameras the Italians had requested at the Sweden game (to make sure there was no cheating), would have picked up any lack of effort! Another good game.

The Spanish and Italians both out already, and another big team weill be out after the games involving Germany, Holland, and the Czechs!

Still quite open, with no team rising much above the others yet!

    Aint football great :D

Gary Neville is by far the better of the two, he is a reasonable solid player, useful, and experienced.
Phil Neville is as much a donkey as heskey. IMO, Heskey should be central defence or midfielder. You cannot play a striker who scarecely scores like him.

naaahhh I am actually a liverpool fan but I really can't stand heskey, he's crap.
Owen's style I really think is not good, just hang on a defender for a long ball up the middle. sometimes it works great, more often he ends up scuppered.
that is part of the reason we have been fairly ineffective until Rooney.
I like to see people like mcmanamanaman run with the ball, giggsy too. not this creeping assasin style.

    Ah well.

Sol's goal should have stood, but england looked poor again. Defended well, and Owens finish was pure class. Loosing Rooney so early was bad, and after that the midfield seemed to collapse aswell!

    Gerrard, Scholes, Lampard, and Beckham

You'd expect much MOre fight from a midfield like that.

The portuguese were the better team, but again, Sol's goal should have stood!

The video replay debate will no doubt kick in again.

Let's just hope it doesn't all kick off over there now.

Well I've not really followed Stuart Dougals progress (fourth official), but I'm sure he's doing a good job. He'll be there longer than the England squad :D

I was at the game and what an atmosphere! Fantastic game, certainly got my money's worth. Took me a while to get back home last night so I haven't caught any video replay's but from what I've heard from people who have is that Sol's goal was correctly disallowed because Terry had his arm around the keeper.

Once I was at the game it rapidly became clear that I was supporting Portugal and not England. When Owen scored that first goal my stunned reaction said it all. There's no denying it - I support Portugal!!!

So England go out on penalties again

Crowd atmosphere at the ground was excellent again and I didn't notice any aggro either during or after the game

So, roll on Sweden or Holland, Portugal's waiting for you :)

    Michael.

As for trouble, the camera seemed to pick up on something, couldn't actualy see what was going on, just some people all turning to look at something in the crowd. Their expressions suggested it wasn't something happy and smiley

Hope there wasn't any problems after the game.

    France out !!

    Greece 1 - 0 France

So Portugal shouldn't take their loss to Greece too badly then.
