However this might be the same as the bullshit episode of horizen about if the roads got gridlocked talk about keeping up the Fear.

This type of things is fear creating bullshit and explains why I only watch the Simpsons!

i'm with gary on this one. i avoid the news to stop being concerned about stuff i have no control over so why should i watch something specificly designed to cause me stress. i suppose if i worked in an office it should provide coffee break conversation material but it's a bit like talking about the weather, boring, depressing and ultimately nothing you do will influence it.
cheers

Oh well. Was MOstly London. Still be plenty of sheep to burn here in wales :D

Interesting program.

Extreme, perhaps. But still possible.

Never saw it. Sounds incredibly unlikely though.

Not really.

And how can you say that if you didn't even watch it?

I can't even talk about the weather without talking shop! Blooming nightmare... ;)

Was it any good - I meant to watch it but went down the pub and killed some time out of the house...

Anyway, whole cities losing lights etc isn't uncommon - try telling my mate that it is when she got stuck on the Underground during the London blackouts! Ask the people in SoCal or NY. It's not impossible at all...

Sounds incredibly unlikely though.

I thought the scenario was perfectly feasable. Anyway it's not like we haven't had to suffer extended power cuts before.

As MO pointed out the program was mostly about London with hardly any mention about other areas. Rural areas up in Norfolk often lose power for days after high winds.

Poor old Londoners, Don't know their born

Those of you who are concerned re a possible energy crisis looming... (maybe those of you running Krell amps in particular ;) ) - see this link re "Peak Oil" - this was in public domain some time before the "If" BBC series... I URGE you to read it folks. Meantime I'm off to hug a tree...

Its complete scaremongering, the whole of the media machine is designed to whip up negative feelings.

Fear, jealousy, road rage, muggings, terrorism, celebrity getting this money, jobs lost, nhs in crisis, cash going down the tubes, gridlock, you name it, its all negative, once you see that, you get fatigued with it all, bored, I switch off as soon as I see this now.

Notice the 'tone' deep slow voice, drama, darkness, dramatic music to heighten the effect of the bad emotions it evokes deep inside ones psyche.

Its the way they ensure their audience. Prey on your fears.

These things have been happening for years, famines, floods, volcanic eruptions, extinction of species, global warming, how do we know its not just a natural cycle of the earth.

Its personkinds desire to control his environment, and cannot cope with nature being in control.

We may have a shelf life, so continue to burn petrol, put out greenhouse gases, the dinosaurs died out, we should not be afraid to. Its not going to happen in our lifetime! Then again....

eat, drink, be merry,
:D
