Aged 61, Jinky passed away in the early hours of this MOrning.

He'd been suffering with MOtor neurone disease.

I'm obviously too young to have seen him play live, but have seen many videos and heard stories of his greatness as both a player and a man.

He was voted the greatest player to ever play for Celtic a couple of years ago.

Very sadly missed.

Thoughts with all those close to the great man.

I remember well coming in from a university chemistry exam on the day of the Celtic v. Inter-Milan European Cup Final - just in time to see Inter put the ball on the penalty spot. And then came the extraordinary sight of Celtic - total transfer value about £40,000 - become a team of 10 forwards and surge against the Italian barrier in waves until it cracked open. One of the most memorable games I've ever seen, and Jimmy Johnstone was there in the middle, driving the Inter defenders crazy. Great stuff!

Celtic have asked if every player can wear number 7 in the upcoming cup final. That'd be a laugh!

On their shorts I think they meant.

Cup final today! 3-0 win and though in parts quite a flat game, there were some brilliant MOments which i'm sure he'd have been watching down on with a smile.
