    HI David F

SpyBot search and destroy (free) is very good but can be a bit slow...I did a scan earlier today and got rid of 43 problems(cookies and spyware). Par for the course when you surf the Net(unless you have A MAC apparently).

Use Firefox/mozzila as your search engine..

    Regards D S D L----Neil :)

    Catchy, no?

Honestly, you don't need to worry if all you do is look at normal websites and put trusted disks in your computer. If you run lots of protection programs they tend to just get in the way of each other and slow your computer down. I currently run ClamWin, which is the best free anti-virus around at the moment I think. If I visit a 'naughty' website I just flush all the stored data afterwards (in Firefox you just click 'clear private data').

Well, you can trust me because... I'm me. :)

    Use Mozilla Firefox
    Use AVG or Clamwin anti-virus
Don't download and run email attachments unless you know they are okay
    Don't go to dodgy websites.

Follow that and you will be safe as you can be. Let AVG do what it wants to do with your 115 things.

No, no..not at all....thats running fine.

Its the pc (mesh) thats giving some issues just now.

Has anyone got any experience with "the driver detective" btw?

It seems quite good at detecting where my drivers are up the swanney,,,,,,which I think is the problem. Its not (currently) so good at mending them.

This all started when my clothes drier tripped the house fuse......which I don't think did this machine a lot of good.

The toshiba (lt) is fine.......haven't used it for few days.....trying to get the house sorted.....make some space so that it doesn't get knocked.

May I also suggest using the Mozilla FireFox add-ons NoScript, AdBlock+ & FlashBlock plus examining the mechanisms for cookie management built in to the FireFox browser. All these suggestions should help keep you safe and sound no matter what sort of site you may wish to explore.

But you could be if you so wished by simply downloading and burning a Ubuntu LiveCD then slipping it in and booting from it. Simple, safe and no-trace browsing.
