KRELL Showcase

Fair enough Antonio, wise call proberbly :) we are a bit more fortunate here with the amount of gear on offer. WM

Makes me wonder WM, if companies there make real big money from what seems to be an oversupply of hi-fi on your market. You seem to have the most varied of hi-fi supplies in the world, more than the other first world countries. And yet, you still find some time and resources to wage war against a third world country ;)

If something sounds better than your old kit (hint hint), you should let the forum know straight away.

So your interpretation of my comments is, as usual wide of the mark.

'As usual' ??? Didnt think I was making a habit of it !

Im missing the 'hint hint' thing...

Do you mean you would like me to explain why I find the sound from valves much nicer than solid state that Ive previously owned? with/without eq?

It's a translation thing I think, some people (myself included) just come across in the wrong way sometimes.

Valves, an explanation:eek: No it's OK there BN, I don't think I need that. I respect valve lovers views, but do not share them.

WOW, that would be the day... :JPS:

Merlin,

Maybe it shows I trust my ears in the end, even though I use my head first... :guiness:

Im coming to the conclusion in reality that the right system doesnt exist.

I want...

Massive big woofers that start and stop and dont have overhang - basically like a 6 inch woofer.

Tweeters that sound like a ribbon, but project like a cone.

Amp tone thats as rich as a valve amp, buts got the ecky thump or a huge power class T/ class A solid state

Sounds as good for cinema as for music

Makes CD sound as good as vinyl

Sounds as great every room of the house, so it doesnt matter where you are or what you are doing.

Contains every song/album you could want, so you select the track you want to hear.

Sounds the same regardless of room acoustics

Doesnt annoy the neighbours

Have I missed anything? lol!!

!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dont want much eh?
Chris

:D :) I was just waiting for someone to come along and say ''mine does that already!!'' lol ;)

point is of course, nothing ever could or will..

Large rigid cones with massive magnets and rigid spider. Check;)

Dynaudio Esotar 1 or 2

Bi amp the above in a sub/sat format, using large Class T/D/A with high damping factor for the bass units. Your choice for the mid/high frequency amplification.

Sounds as good for cinema as for music

Use the above as the front two channels of an AV setup, telling the processor the fronts are large and you have no subwoofer.

Makes CD sound as good as vinyl

Listen to a good upsampling front end then revise;)

Contains every song/album you could want, so you select the track you want to hear.

Feed the system from a large hard drive system, all CD's and vinyl archived at 24/96.

Sounds the same regardless of room acoustics

Try a new Tact:D

Doesnt annoy the neighbours

Get a very low noise floor so that perceived dynamic range is greater and the system has great resolution at low levels (problem with the two V's)

So no it's not impossible Bottleneck, looking at the list, I have tried to attend to most of those issues myself.

Trouble is , you'd still not like it:rolleyes:

It is my great pleasure to inform you, sceptics and all :p, that timbre is back the way it was, and there are no hints of grain or harshness left... :D  :boogie:

I still have a feeling that the background is not as quiet as with the TAG, but maybe because the DP was so much quieter than the old AV32R, it has been over a week too...

The importer said it works better with balanced ICs, and sent me some Transparent, (I can't stand cables with black boxes :chunder: ), I tested them anyway, kind of slowed the sound, less highs, too much bass, took the liveliness out too... :yikes:

So I am back to listening to music again... :band:

Thats the point really I think. The best any of us can hope for is a sound we enjoy listening to.

Perfection isnt available in stores

Antonio that'll be the patented Transparent 'music removing system' they manage to intwine with all their cables :D ;) WM

Lowrider, I may have missed something in another thread, but could you tell me if you have sold your AV32r? or still have it as well.

Regards

John

I sold my original AV32R to buy the new dual processor, then just returned the second, on TAG's latest news...

Another surprise...

I was curious to try proper balanced ICs, as the Transparent did remove background noise, but everything else with it...

So, after the glorious experience with Apogee Wideeye, I decided to try their balanced cables, terminated with quality Neutrik XLR...

WOW, removed the background noise without spoiling what I liked so much with the DPAs...

So now I got the dynamics of the Krell + the silence of the TAG... :MILD:
