Looking for a Tube Cd Player.

Nobody mentioned a Lector - they are really very good - there's one for sale on wigwam I think?

Used to have aShanling t80 and it was great, you have to change the tubes as originals are not the best.My only reason for sale was I had an all tube system and felt I needed to balance it a bit better. CD was great though, good build and reliable. Also allowed control over volume using remote.

I tried a Shanling 100 CDP - bass was missing in action, sadly. The rest of the music sounded fine, but where'd the bass go? I'd be wary of anything Shanling as a result of that. I've heard a modded Shanling that was better, though.

I've owned an Eastern Electric Minimax CDP - and I liked it a LOT. I'd certainly recommend that for someone looking for a tubed CDP.

Certainly had no problems with bass on the t80 but the Minimax is a good layer. It was a toss up between the two when I purcased the Shanling. I would go with either.

I am taking my cdt80 over to Chevron Audio tommorow for the valve stage output mod. I will report my findings when it returns.

Go on you know you want it!!!

How much are you after for the Minimax Zygote?

I may be interested in a part/ex swap for my Consonance....?

No chance of a swap my friend. I no longer use the CDP and don't want another thanks. I've heard the Consonance and don't think it's a match for the Minimax either.
The minimax has been unused for ages now and has very few hours on it to be honest.
