McIntosh MA6500

I went to that Classic Audio shop that was in Shepherd's Bush a number of years ago with a m8 who's now making pretty decent mains cleaning gear.
He asked the proprietor if he had any Macintosh amps, and the geezer said "I don't think you could afford their gear"
We're were amazed when his shop closed down...

Classic Audio! Bastards! Some shops have such an 'up themselves' attitude. I walked into a Martin Kleiser as a teen in the early nineties. Said I had a budget of £1,000 on CD and speakers. Told me to try the Technics/Panasonic/Sony shop further down the Uxbridge Road...

Anyhow, looking forward to my McIntosh arriving. :D

well, I hope you didn't buy anything from them, Classic audio that is...nevermind the technics shops down the road... ;)

That Technics/Panasonic shop set me on the path to hi-fi!

I ended up buying a Harman Kardon HD7600 cd player, a Harman Kardon HK6500 amp and a pair of JBL LX60 speakers. Superb! (for the time and for the kind of music I was into and a massive step up from my old Aiwa midi). I reckon many modern budget systems can't match my old H/K system in terms of punch and sheer entertainment!
