I won an auction for an Arcam Alpha 7r amp earlier today.
Before bidding I noticed the seller was listed as cardiff, so I contacted him....
His reply was "no problem".
My Budget was £100 for an amp, so I ended up bidding £104 thinking I didn't have to consider p+p costs.
I contacted him straight after the auction....
I've not long recieved a reply saying he's just moved to a place just outside Bridgend (works out about 38miles each way). I'm welcome to collect from his house.
Well, I'm informed that's probably about £15 petrol (I don't drive but have a mate's willing to give me a lift).
So, I either pay the petrol costs, or pay for postage (quoted in the auction at £15). Either way that's pushing the price up to the £120 range. MOre than I was willing to pay. £104 was MOre than I wanted to pay, but went for it purely because of the fact he was local and I could collect.
The way I see it, he should either post for free, or ideally reduce the price (to £80?) to cover petrol costs and about 2 hours travelling.
Does that seem fair to ask?

Hi, would it be possible to collect the amp in person? I live just outside Newport.

Hi. I contacted you previously asking if it would be possible to collect as I live just outside Newport. When would it be possible to collect? Would it be possible to meet at the train station?
