Well, not only is Robbie Williams Angels the "best song of the past 25 years", but it's also the one the most british people would like played at their funeral. Apparently.

So, let's get some better taste going... Nominate ONE song only to be played at your funeral.

For me it's a clear cut choice:

Don't Follow by Alice in Chains.

I would probably pick Love Will Tear Us Apart for two reasons

1) To be as aquade as possible
2) Because of this:

Never really thought that much about it actually! A quick think and these ones come to mind...probably not that suited if I think about it properly, but The Beatles - Let It Be is the first that comes to mind, followed by The Verve - Lucky Man (not sure why, it just appeals).

my 20 year old cousin died of cancer recently and had bush, queen and marylin manson played at his funeral.
for me it would have to be
floyd's wish you were here, elp's jerusalem and if i was feeling beligerent metallica's version of so what - just to stick it to the god squad, but probably not.
cheers

''Robbie Williams'' indeed.

These people are obviously lonely in heaven and are looking for people to slit their wrists in misery.

:( that sounds awful its far too young to be taken away. Hopefulyl he is in a better place now though.

C'MOn Isaac! Stop messing the place up, surely this should be in the Music forum?

Perhaps a MOderator could MOve it ;)

I'm not sure what I'd have played. I'll give it some thought when I'm feeling close to death in work tonight...

Black Dog by Led Zepplin, but the Pall Bearers can only move during the guitar bits. :D

at,
to be honest it was a relief for him to go. he was in such awful pain. he knew he was on the way out and sorted everything out from his funeral to making peace with his family. i doubt i'll ever know a braver person.
i went to see him a few days before he died and he was pretty upbeat although he was obviously very unwell. it's never a good thing for someone so young to die but he wouldn;t have wanted people to mope about it so i've tried to take some positive things away from it, it's difficult though.
cheers

moterhead-killed by death or possible the band-the weight .A very good friend of mine had great balls of fire played at hus cremation ,certainly raised a few smiles

Pictures of you - the cure

my leftfield choice would be anything by Keith Sweat :)

One of those Glenn Miller things - is it "In the mood". Peter Sellers wanted it anyway, the one that goes "Yakadaka-yakadaka-dakada-daaaaaa" just to piss off the guests

Dear God by XTC - a great song for athiests everywhere!

Matt.

p.s. Isaac wouldn't Alice in Chains' 'Down in a Hole' be more suitable ;)

Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd

Thats a good one.

Songs at a funeral, you lot would spend the next 3 weeks on a thread about the god awful sound in the church or whatever and how it could have been improved :D

If I had to choose Id go for Smells Like Teen Spirit :JPS: or Street Spirit by Radiohead.
