New volume pot killed my sound

The main advantage to pseudo shunting rather than steppers is that you buy 2 nice resistors which will set you back around £20 ish, then you wait 4-6 weeks for them to settle in and your away. To do a stereo 24 step switch with the same quality Rs would cost you a fortune and take years to get all the Rs burned in properly.
 
I shunted my Alps Blue using cheap Maplin resistors just to see if it works and I can't tell a lot of difference. I have been meaning to get some nice resistors to put in for a while now but never get round to it. So yeah, my experience using normal resistors is that I can't hear much difference! Not that I had a problem with the Alps in the beginning...
