My MObile (SE W850i) seems to have developed a problem over the last day or so. I have to pretty much shout for the person on the other end to hear me. It works fine when using the handsfree kit though, so it seems to be the phones built in mic.

I'm on an 18 MOnth contract with 3, which I think I'm about 9 MOnths into. I've no phone insurance.

    Am I likely/entitled to recieve a repair?

I'm hoping it has a standard 12 MOnth warranty?

    If not, any suggestions?

everything sold in the EU has a 24 month warranty on it. and it's up to them to prove that you damaged it rather than it being a piece of crap within the first 12 months. no exceptions..

it is upto the vendor to fix it and is not the responsibility of the manufacturer unless they can provide you with a legally binding agreement between vendor and maufacturer that the manufacturers accepts responsibility for faulty goods.

they have to provide you with a phone that is fit for the purpose it was sold. dont take any shit from them and quote them the sales of goods act 1979, sales of goods and services act revised 1982 and the 2002 european wide directive.

Been there done that and was still told to sod off as the item was older than 12 months old but younger than 24 and it was my responsibility to prove it wasn't fit for purpose.

    Whoah! Thanks for the reply!

I shall get on the case.

Bob, I've had the phone for less than 12 MOnths. I'm guessing it must be about 9ish.

I'll have to dig out my copy of the contract before I call them.

    Cheers :)

You've got them bang to rights under 12 months definitely.

just take it into the nearest carphone warehouse service repair centre with a copy of your receipt, they will fix it for you if your fault is found to be covered by the handsets warranty.

they wont mind that you didn't buy it from them, they are paid by the manufacturer to repair warranty jobs.

Is a service repair centre a standard store? Or are they seperate stores?

I've made several test calls today, and where as yesterday and this MOrning where the mic was seeming to be pretty much constantly pish, it seems to be kicking in and out now

I'm wondering if maybe it's water damage and just needs to dry out?

If its water damage, it wont be fixed under warranty.

Not all CPW stores are repair centres. Best call your local one, they will be able to tell you which one's contain a repair man for on-site repair.
