Interesting looking DAC you've ordered yourself Michael, I'll be very interested to hear what you think of it.

Just read this part of the thread, had one of these dac's for a while now (or very simular Audiogon purchase), and there's quite a lot of scope for a bringing them up to speed top, specially with the 8412's.
Its imho slightly better in stock form the lesser 47 lab effort, though different transports did produce interesting results, responds really well to a quiality psu. Wm

I also can't wait to hear what it sounds like. Should be arriving end of next week (in Lisbon) just as I get back to Lisbon too :) . WM, the seller is providing me with a bog standard wall wart AC adapter with DC output - is something based on NCs that I could get to upgrade it? (christ, I haven't even got it yet and I'm thinking about mods  )

The first mod I'd want to make would be to lose that blue LED ;) .

I'll have you know, Blue LED's are the permanent black!!!
Micheal, you can achieve good results with just a quality dc regulated supply at first, do-able for around the £50 mark.
we are now beyond n/c's as you know it captain!!!

Cheers WM. I'll find out more after I've had a good listen with the stock PSU.

Keepin' it real, right here in Lawrieville.
    Midlife,

The name will be kept the same but the player in it's present form will be altered. The transport will be different (and hopefully better) to what what you have in your current player and some other tweaks will be performed. Philips will no longer be supplying the transport that you have in your player. It has reached the end of it's useful life although I suspect that with your warranty, any issues you have will be covered.

The new version of the player should be out in 2005. Whether that will result in a price increase is anyone's guess.

    Enjoy the music,

    Lawrie.:D
