quite right chris. in todays world, work has become first in most peoples priorities. rather than a means to an end it has become an end in itself and now people are trying to fill the void left by non existent family and social lives with things like retail therapy and materialism. a poor second place imho. the trouble is that todays volatile job market, emplyers are able to hang the threat of redundancy or at least a stalled career over an employees head if they don;t get to the office at 8am and leave at 8pm and with the media telling you that having a career is the most important thing in life it's a vicious circle. every time i have to drive anywhere at rush hour and see people overheating in small metal boxes and doing it every day. i thank my lucky stars that i'm out of the daily grind. i do miss the office banter though - but then i can skive on zero gain all i want. cheers julian
