    Evolution..........

Noticed it on the news that loadsa kids are getting fish after watching "Finding NeMO". Said on the news that they're trying to find him in much the same way that kids used to get turtles and try and make them eat pizza, be friendly with rats and do kung fu! This will surely involve trying to get the fish to talk! Speak ya bastards!!! Kid's will think that they're just holding out, and inevitabely turn to torture to extract some words!

Evolution is where something evolves to enable it to be better or MOre basically, to survive. The polar bear has a big thick white coat to help it survive the snowy cold conditions (but then ideal evolution would have given him better hands and the skills to make a nice boat to the equator). So, surely one day the fish are going to have to talk!!!

I give it 3 MOnths and we'll have talking fish on Richard & Judy!

More likely they're just about to say something but then forget it - due to their short memory span (5 secs or so isn't it?)

Can't see any advantage in talking fish. If they could be trained to turn a record over and cue up the other side properly that'd be good.

Oh god, are we going to have the return to popularity of Big Mouth Billy Bass, just in a slightly adapted form so it "talks" a few words, rather than attempting to sing or whatever it did... sure hope not.

Why not? Babel fish are really useful... :)

I can guarantee there'll be loads of stuff on "fish cruelty" on things like Animal Hospital soon 'cos the kids'll get bored and flush the things down the bog.

It's always the way - you get a pet as a craze or a crimbo present, and guess who ends up looking after it? Just another reason why I'll never be a parent!

I think its a myth fish can only remember for 5 seconds. My fish clearly know when it is food time, but if they only have 5 second memories, how can they possibly remember that?

Researchers recently debunked the myth of the 5 second goldfish memory span. They found that fish can learn and adapt their behaviour. It is believed they can remember for up to 6 months. Apparently this research is to be applied to Fish Farming to make it easier to feed, move and harvest the fish.

We'll have to find a new way to express short term memory loss - anyone got any new Essex Girl jokes? :D
