My grandad has got the results back from the CT scan and it has not progressed so the cancer itself is curable. Although my grandads symtons are now very bad they can operate. There was somthing that showed up on his liver though but the doctors seem to think it was nothing, he needs to go another scan tomorrow just to comfirm it.

My grandad suffers from breathing problems at times and so far the doctors don't know this. My grandad never likes a fuss and when asked if his general health was ok he replied yes but I don't think his breathing problems should be enough to affect the operating, his heart is in good working order.

The doctors have really speeded things up now and instead of waiting weeks for things to happen it is now taking days so they must think he is with a good chance of a cure desipte being 78.

I will delete this post later as I don;t want it indexed on google for obvious reasons but I just thought I would let people know who replied to my original thread.

It's great news that the doctors are hopeful of recovery. I hope he keeps his spirits up.

All the best and best of luck with the scan.

Thanks I have since found out the not so good news. The cancer is in its advanced stages on the bowel but the doctors are hoping its not spread. I have found out only tonight that they will need to totaly remove his bowel which of course will effect my grandads quality of live. I guess you can get used to this though and I coped when I had a similar problem through much of my school days.

It is one of those situations were he is old but he is also very young in his mind, he is still very harp witted and likes to keep as active as his body will let him. I think this will help him as he insn't the type to feel sorry for himselve.

An anaethetist must be told of breathing/chest problems.

Agree with Bob family has to make docs aware of breathing probs, prolly not make a great deal of difference to the outcome, but better that they know.

Hope everything goes well, keeping my fingers crossed for you.
    Good luck
