I don't think it's Ian. At least not the one we know.

    splennnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnndid! (though a little hungover)

Left my job! 9 years is far too long in the same job for someone of 25. Going back to college to study forestry and conservation. A complete change is needed. I just need to find a job that I can work around the course, and which is hopefully relevent.

And now to watch Scotland take on Italy!

    How's you? Young wipper snapper!

Sideshow Bob is me (scott), and this is my first post / reply.

Sideshowbob; my apologies. I would have chosen something a little bit different if I had realised.

Excellent stuff, good move. Hope it all works out. You started work at 16? Blimey, you deserve a rest.

No problem at all. We'll just have to fight to the death, no big deal :)

Thanks! I thought I remembered hearing you mention something about tree surgery before. The course is due to kick off next friday, so if all goes to plan, I'll have a better idea of what's involved then.

Yep, the plan was a summer job between school and college. But due to the flexible way it worked, it was ideal for getting me through college.

Finished college........ decided engineering wasn't for me.

Did a few other courses (better to do something/anything, while figuring out what I want to do), and the job allowed the freedom to work around them.

Then I had an ex living in London for 4 years, so again, the flexibility was ideal. Cram in some shifts, then drag myself to London or wherever we wanted to go knowing I could come and go as I pleased and still have a job there.

Circumstances changed, and cliche as it sounds, I'm now looking to do something MOre "rewarding". Still not 100% sure what I want to do, but feel like I should at least be doing something positive in the meantime.
Not having a driving license seems to be an instant hurdle with consevation/forestry type work. So...... I had an interview with a care home yesterday, and have a few others lined up. So, care work while I do this course and work on a driving license, then I hope to get into something like tree surgery.

I'd considered throwing myself into care work long term, but ideally I'd like to end up self employed, which I can't see happening in care. Forestry/conservation is MOre appealing in general, and would also be a possible way to eventually set up on my own.

The only realy problem I can see, is in picking a good name!

    Dr MO's Tree Surgery?

the first cut is the deepest....

Get two (male) business partners, then you can be The Tree Fellers.
