sound downgrade

    i listened to krell 2250 and it had better slam and control at low and allittle more warm but it's sound is quite like 300il but i'm not sure krell 2k power supply will lose the sound in long term or no?!

    some tell me ML NO.383 is better choice because krell problem come from it's cheap power supply

    Erik - dont you mean more current and load tolerence rather than power then?

    If you tried the 2250 and it didn't make much of a difference then its difficult to advise that such upgrade would cause a (long term) improvement.

    Yes to me this is the krell house sound - its distortion signature. Try another amp.

    If power refers to Watts only, indeed. But apart from tube amps and class A amps, watts and current specs usually increase commensurately if I've understood well.

    Or voltage ;-)

    What i am saying is that current is the important factor really. Splitting hairs I know but high power is not necessarily required - though it is very likely.

    What would be the advantage of higher power/more watts if the current/voltage remains unchanged?
    As you see, I don't even know what I'm talking about all the time :rolleyes: .

    Doesn't the current do all the hard work when the loads get tricky? A bit like using a big 6 litre car engine going up a hill - it'll be smoother than a 1.4 model, due to the extra torque?
