Probably old news but I only saw it in the local paper last week.
With farming heritage in the UK it seems like a diesel Subaru is an obvious thing to do; presumably a diesel boxer was a little bit tricky to get right but now it's here is it going to be throughout the range? See more of the Forester and Legacy on the roads down here than the Impreza anyway - maybe even more now.

It is going in across the range.

Initially Legacy and Outback get it with a 5 speed box.

Around sept this year there's a new Forester coming out, which will get it with a 6 speed box, and at the same time the Impreza will get it with the same box.

Next year the new Legacy and Outback are coming out, and they will presumably receive the 6 speed box.

I've been reading a lot of reports on it because I'm very seriously interested in it. I've liked the current Legacy a great deal ever since it came out and the performance and economy of the diesel are attractive. I may have to learn to live with the other aspects of diesel...

I really dig good diesels. A diesel Legacy tourer sounds a very interesting idea.

if you have not owned a diesel before i suggest a long road test before buying, as the torque band is considerably different and less than petrol engines.
