TomTom Go car sat nav system

Check out the review on pocketgpsworld.com it covers most of it :-

You can even store your own points of interest on the SD card in the device, the UK version comes with the full UK maps on the SD card and major routes in Europe on CD, you'll need a bigger SD card if you want both on the same card.

Some people have had problems with cars with athermic windscreens but this can be overcome with an external antenna.

You now can get them for £400.

    It's the mutts nuts :D

Julian, I've heard that they are going to release new maps of the UK in Q1 2005, let's hope we get them free or at minor cost.

tomtom has been on my wish list for a while now.
case in point was on sunday, driving to my aunt's - there was me looking at the m25 exit, but staying on the m3, thinking, damn, damn, damn ...... 5 miles forwards, 5 miles back again to the same junction ....
and then the next day, couldn't quite remember where my uncle's house was.

i so need one of these, i'm crap at missing junctions / getting lost.

but how does it compare to a palm with gps ? like this one Palm Zire 31 with GPS unit
that's only £215 - i guess the main difference would be in hearing the voice.

As far as I can see here are the cons & pros

    Cons :-

only the bottom of the palm that's a touch screen
no built in antenna & GPS reciever
    the SD card is extra
    no major routes in Europe
no mention of creating your own POI's
no mention of connecting the device to a pc, but i'm sure you can
    no voice

    Pros :-

    Cost

I've never used anything except the TomTom so I can't really compare the two.
