Too hot for comfort

So how do you do the level-matching, please? Does one need a scope and a test-tone, or is it easier than that?

Just turn the volume down 2 clicks!

If you were really anal about it, you'd use an SPL meter, but that seems overkill to me.

Some AV processor has variable voltage for the different inputs. If you do feel anal ...I mean curious enough to borrow a SPL meter there is mucho fun to play with. It is like getting a light meter when you think you are getting bit serious with your photography hobby.

Yesterday I measured my room temperature rise by 3 degree C when all the toys are playing. Problem is opening the window suck out all the bass. :( Is that what you expert call Helmholtz resonator bass trap?

My DAC64 (MkII) gets very hot - especially in summer in Lisbon where the temp. outside reaches 45C and inside the house is (no air con  ) reaches about 35C. It gets so hot that it's bordering on uncomfortable to touch for more than a few seconds, perhaps not quite as hot as a Class A amp but getting close. That they get pretty hot is normal, but it shouldn't cause any problems.

Michael.

I can't help thinking that's bad design, anything that gets that hot ought to be in a larger case with heatsinks and ventilation. And it should have an on-off switch (which I understand the Mk2 does).

Will have a Mk2 to play with in a couple of weeks.
