Thinking of setting up an LCD TV in the bedroom...

Is anyone here using a device that streams video around a home ethernet similar to what Squeezebox does for audio?

I imagine a remote controlled "decoder" that goes in the viewing room with a Cat 5 input. It takes the TCP/IP encoded video off the network and outputs it to component video (or DVI) for input to an LCD screen.

There would be some software on the source computer that allows you to insert a DVD and it can be controlled remotely from the viewing room.

I haven't done any Googling yet so any pointers would be appreciated.

There's one called the NAD Netcap. It was announced some time ago, but not seen it in stock anywhere.

kiss does a networked dvd player but the reviews seem to say the tech isn;t quite there yet - the main problem being the software. networkable dvd seems to be the next big thing, i'd wait until then or build yourself a media pc.

I'm not sure but a thing called a Slingbox might do what you want if you have a wireless network at home.

Slingbox is ethernet only, you'll need a wireless bridge.

They have just brought out a few new models.

You also would need some sort of PC in the bedroom,
