In a club some drunk was picking a fight with a 6.3ft 18 stone bouncer, he called him black b**stard , I have never seen a bouncer get so annoyed before, he took into this backroom that leads to no where, so I am using my imagine to what happened, (the bouncers of that club have a reputation for sorting things out in a not so legal way and none of them are qualifiied which is unusual for a big manc club).

The thing is if he did get beaten up by the bouncer I would not have blamed them, what right did the drunk have to make racists comments like this? This person was also asked to leave by the black bouncer for some reason (probably fighting or drugs) when he refused the bouncer must have said somthing and the racist words came out.

This guy was also quite slim and small, he must have simply have been mental.

...and following AK's Bruce Lee theme, the best Bouncers diffuse a situation using 'the art of fighting without fighting'

Who knows, maybe the back room is used just for stern talkings-too. ;)

Whilst what a lot of people in the UK will say racially has been modified in recent times, I'm not convinced what they think has changed that much i.e. maybe the drunk would have simply kept his thoughts to himself had he been sober.

You've only got to look at the popular programmes from 20+ years ago - Black & White mistral show, Alf Garnet, Love They Neighbour, even how black people were referred to in programmes like The Sweeney to perhaps realise that it's gonna take generations for people to change the way they think even if they know there are certain things they aren't allowed to say any more.

    can't agree with you A.T.

If you're a bouncer you need to accept that you will deal with drunk offensive people.

It was his job to deal with the situation in a responsible way.

I hope he was just kicked out of the back door.

Correct. And that takes real courage, self-confidence and control. People who are good at martial arts do not loose their cool and lash out. That is a sign of cowards.

I wonder what the reaction would have been if the 6.3ft 18 stone bouncer was white and the little drunk was black !

Anyway AT, the moral of the story is; don't get drunk and then go calling 6.3ft 18 stone bouncers (black, white, pink, yellow or whatever) names. ;)

    5th Ave.

I've never seen anybody go through the back door before, its always been out onto the street.

Blumax no doubt if it was a white bouncer and a black kid they would have been accused as rasisim, but many of the bouncers that took him into the back room were white. I am not sure what he did to get chucked out, it must have been serious. I remember once when somebody ask me if I had any drugs in there, the next second loads of bouncers appeared form no where and escorted this guy out.

im my experience the attitude of bouncers often leaves a lot to be desired. Some are so aggressive and seem to be looking for trouble, like they've got something to prove, that they're a "BIG MAN". Can't stand bouncers like that.

At the same time, it nice when they are polite like they should be. They gotta be able to step it up a gear when trouble occurs though. I remember once I had lost my friends and I wanted to see if they were in this club, the bouncer let me go in without paying, but said "I will come and find you if you don't come back and pay if your staying" :D quite decent of them really, as I didn't want to waste money.

Doesn't sound very professional to just beat the crap out of someone, it might teach him a lesson but on the other hand it might just make him even more racist out of resentment.

I thinks it's a terrible thing to say, but it can be expected in his line of work as there are lots of drunk people how may be racist. I personally didn't appreciate it when I was called a "milky bar kid" or a "white boy"

It would be wrong if he did beat him up, but he wasn't exactly moving when the bouncers told them to, so some physical force would be required to get him out the building.

What is not acceptable is if the bouncers beat him for the sake of it, the thuggy bouncers do certainly put me off going into town, although we never have any problems getting into clubs and usualy we are allowed to skip the ques (nearly 100 times going clubbing varius venues you get a reputation that you're not going to cause trouble).

I'm sick of it anyway, the drunks, the thugy bouncers it will be nice when I move out and can enjoy drinks in my locals without a novelty of having to stay out late.

Not everywhere is like that, Slice, star and garter, cornerhouse, all the places around the northern quarter near piccadilly records etc. You'll get much better music too.

I usualy go to 42's as the music there can be quite inovative but at weekends I guess most places are commercial. The problem with 5th Ave it is is too cheap, it just attracts drunks.

The nicest bouncers I know are the ones in my local bar (which closes at 1:0am), they are always really nice and you can always have a joke with them. They are not thugs either, they are strong enough to stop people getting in, but they won't beat people up, although there is never any trouble in there anyway.

    Put them to test AT.

Take some drugs, get drunk and call them black/white b*st*rd and see how they react. You might even get to find out what goes on in the backroom that leads to no where. :D
