WM, if you're referring to my amp, its filter cuts off way higher than 50kHz. The response of the amp is flat to 100kHz ;)

It's an analogue filter and there's one in your amp too ;)

The thing that scares me most about the Squeezebox is the interface. How easy (or not?) is it to navigate your music collection and select what you want? I'm having a hard time envisaging navigating a directory structure with a regular remote control...

if you take the time to setup the tags properly when ripping you have a lot more search options but the browse music folder is the one i use most which is fine if you again take the time to set things up logically. also there is a mobile phone like number pad which allows you to jump to certain letters quickly which helps a lot. in practice it's a lot easier than it sounds. also if you have a truly unwieldy collection then you can use a web browser to access the server as well. i have over 700 albums and 10k songs and can play what i want within seconds.
    cheers

If you can imaging a tree with the main categories as the trunk (Up/down) and the subcategories go right from there (and left to get back). As Julian says if you get the tagging right at the beginning it becomes really simple. In fact I 've been using a mixture of the CDDB info exported to my CDINI.txt and the freedb. As a result I've not needed to input more than 2% data. Once this is done I may go back over it with Tag&Rename to allow some fine tuning but that'll be for fun rather than neccesity.

Hmm, sounds really good. Now I just need to save up for the big fat hard drives I'll need to store my CDs on, and look into suitable DACs.......

I've set my iriver 120 up in artist/album order alphabetically and its easy. Select artist, select album, play first song onwards. Its not that difficult even with a remote control.

so put simply,a Squeezebox is an MP3 player, with wireless connectivity, and RCA outputs to connect to an amp? So I could get one,use my lappy, which has wireless connectivity, and press play on an MP3 and hear it through my amp/speakers? and this will sound as good as a Naim CDP?

sorry,i'm still amazed and still taking a look at this wonderous thing
