What's playing today ?

I've been playing more early music in the past 6 months. This was my latest acquisition

When I was a student in the late 1960s, I bought a few of the Karajan Beethoven symphonies, as much as my student grant (remember those?) could afford. They were from the 1963 DGG recordings.

I later bought the Karajan 1997 set on CD, (well it was digital, gotta be better than analogue innit?) but I always found those less satisfying than I remember the old LPs, which sadly I no longer have.

So, last night, having found the 1963 set on Spotify, and still finding it satisfying, I've ordered the CD set.

By the way, I also still very much enjoy the Kempe Beethoven cycle on Quadraphonic LP.
