As you know on Friday I cut my finger. Went to the hospital and they gave me stitches + 500mg Flucloxacillin.

Today while at work I became very aware of having very little energy and decided to go home and go to bed. I have been in bed most of the day, with virtually no energy. Hot and cold flushes also, and my blood pressure was ok 144/88 but resting pulse is 120 bpm. I feel like I have got a very bad dose of the flu, and am very restless about it. It really has took me off my feet in a surprisingly swift fashion, and even typing this is an effort. I feel slightly sick and have indigestion. My appetite is currently very poor - although I feel hungry, I'd struggle to eat.

Do you think its just a reaction to the tablets?

Yep, I felt like that after I had my operation, plus the pain you have been in during the week will tire you out. On top that you have the current humid weather that dosn't help. If you still feel like that tomorrow maybe you should contact your doctor. You should also take tomorrow off and get some rest.

Sounds like the Flucloxacillin is doing the biz and fighting the infection, I have seen this several times in a family member. Go to bed, take some water and try not to overheat.

Thanks for the prompt replies, its re-assuring that this is supposed to happen, since I really do feel quite poorly at the moment, and its took me by surprise.

May I suggest. .

Please call NHS Direct 24 hours a day on 0845 46 47 and put your mind at rest.

Thanks mate, I will do if I really start feeling too bad, but I feel a bit better already now that you've put my mind at rest :)

I think it was the shock of it more than anything else - I was not told to expect any symptoms, and when I read the leaflet it did say that I could get fatigue/fever/muscle pains more than 48 hours after the start.

144/88 is slightly high, but that may be explained by your body fighting infection.
It sounds like either the infection is getting you, or maybe a summer cold.
Paul, as auric said, call NHS direct and put your mind at rest.

Paul I am sure this won't make you feel much better but you have influenced my system probably more than anybody on here. You're headphones advice is always brilliant and spot on.

More than likely. Unfortunately, these things are never free from all side effects for all people, so sometimes you're just going to get a little bit unlucky and end up with something that doesn't really agree with you.

Hopefully you'll be fine within a few days - if not I'd be inclined to get back to the doctor.

Feeling a bit better this morning. Got a bit of a headache, almost like a mild hangover now, still a bit hot and cold, but not as bad as yesterday. I was actually sick last night, and did feel pretty lousy all in all - but eventually I just passed out!

Just trying to make up my mind whether to go to work today.

Get well soon Paul! Have today off (if you're still there) if you feel icky.

I had yesterday off due to jawache/light head (when moving about)/earache. Saw the doc and I've got a bad ear infection in the right ear - very painful. Got a dose of antibiotics...

It sucks, as I've just upgraded my amps and can't hear properly in my right ear now!

Sorry to hear about your ear infection, as the others have said my problems could be due to taking antibiotics, but I honestly hope you dont feel as crap as I felt last night.

It was one of those weird things where for some bizarre reason I found the floor in the living room downstairs a more comfortable place to sleep than my own bed :chunder:

Cheers dude - it hurts like a TBM working away in the inner ear!

Yeah - illness is wierd like that - probably cooler on the floor for a start though - you'll be losing heat thru the floorboards.

Julian - I went for a 72/180 :) Totally OTT, unplanned, and I'm skint, but when the 72 arrives I should be :)

Dom - hope the ear infection goes soon. I was suffering for about a week with a blocked ear back in October. Really ticked me off, as I couldn't even be arsed to listen to music - very very unusual for me and had only recently got my new CDP. Hope it goes soon and that you can start enjoying those upgrades!

odd, I have just had both eustacian tubes in my lugs blocked, too, was feeling sick groggy, and my co-ordination was off.

seems ear problems are abound.

I beleive one of the coming advances in medicine will be the realisation that systemically the body is more sensitive to things than we realise currently, just a fall can send a systemic shock, and upset the whole self.
there is much out there yet to be found.

ALL medicines have side effects.

I'm starting to think so too, I am sitting here awake, nose blocked, mouth and throat very sore, very bad headache, and all of this from a cut finger 10 days ago!
