I mentioned this incidentally in another post and it seems at least one other agrees with me ....

I rarely find the search facility on this forum to be very useful, mainly because it rejects a lot of terms as "too short" or whatever.

So terms like "USB" or "DAC" or "CD" or "LP" for example get ignored.

I don't know if anything can be done about this.

A better search facility would minimise the tendency for the same questions to get asked over and over again...

As I mentioned in the other thread ...

The search facility works very well except that you need to type in at least 4 characters. So typing in CD, USB etc will not return any useful results. I think the minimum character count can be reduced but there are performance implications which I suspect Mark or Isaac will be best placed to describe.

Fair enough if there's a good reason to restrict it to 4 characters.
Certainly I can see why you'd want to exclude words like "and" or "the".
It's just that I often find myself using terms such as "CD" or "DAC" due to the nature of the kind of stuff I'm trying to find out on these boards.
For example if I search for "class A amp", I get a search returned just on the term "class" which isn't much help.
Anyway, like I say, if there are good reasons for why it's set up as it is, that's fair enough.
