I will if I'm around, one of the problems I have with weekends is that I play a bit still, and have a season ticket for God's own football team Man. city, sorry I meant God's awful football team! So if I'm free yes

Sorry Chris, I dont have a turntable :( but you're still more than welcome, I guess its too much trouble to bring a TT? But I do have a phono stage and would like to experiment with vinyl agin (no rude comments guys)
Don't worry, I spend more of my time listening to CDs rather than vinyl, it's just I started buying LPs long before I bought CDs.

I think it should be possible to bring a turntable - I'm sure my planar 2/RB250 is easily transportable (no suspension)

Either way, yes I'd love to come along. Ta

thanks chrispa for reminding me of my potty mouth outburst - i do apologise but hey, that sums up my surprise at the difference!

as for what that differnce was, aural memory is a fickle thing but i's say the marantz sound had more body and warmth. that said was it a fair contest - the marantz has so many mods i think Ken Ishiwhatsit is probably thinking master Sibson is after his job!

Off chez Sibson tonight to give the NOS a shakedown to see if the fault can be sussed, i will confiscate his soldering iron before we start!
failing that its off back to the far east. i'll keep you posted.

There's not that much done to the marantz. After his speech at heathrow last year I was rather disappointed with Ishiwata-san. However, the player is a reasonable start, although there's plenty of other good bases to mod (like a VRDS, stable platter, etc).

the problem with your nosdac sounds like the same problem as mine.

ie female vocals distorting.

will you let me know what the problem is if isaac works it out?

cheers kane

MO - the speech was much-hyped before the event, and it came down to ken asserting that hifi had to reinvent itself as jewellery in the face of a big market force (AV), much as the mechanical watch industry did when digital watches came along.

I still am Dev, but only at home..with my hard hat and tool belt on.

The Audiolab did me fine in the early 90s, but is wipped by the Primare. I still wish NAD would reissue my 3150 from the 80s..now THAT was an amp with more knobs than you can shake a stick at, and a musical hooligan
