I must admit, a G5 is on the list, along with trying one of the new dacs from Wavelength, I quote:
The most unique toy and a product that I believe represents the future of music delivery, was found in the Wavelength Audio room. Gordon Rankin says, "For years we've been struggling with the error prose S/PDIF interface. When the DAC receives an error, it just plays the last smaple again. Error prone systems tend to sound sterile and unrealistic. Computer interfaces such as USB and Firewire, on the other hand, have error recovery. Therefore, all the information on a disk is preserved and the sound is more true to the original." He then presented the Cosecant DAC, that uses the same Transcendental DAC technology as his Cosine DAC. It also has the same two transformer coupled output as the Cosine. Any computer that has the USB interface will work, No software is required. Simply specify the output as the Cosecant and you're done....perfect output forever. Software such as Apple's ITunes can be used to create a playlist or just play any CD. The unit is priced at $3,500.
So maybe the future has arrived!
