No Problems in 2/3+ years.

 

AVG here also. I have had update errors and probs probably 2 or 3 times in 2 or 3 years, but it's always sorted itself out eventually. I see no reason to pay for anything at present, the free version of avg seems to work as well as the ones I've paid for in the past, but tbh I'm probably not in the high risk category of internet users as I don't tend to download loads of shit from dodgy sites. Common sense is important for hassle free browsing.

 

Gizmo's is very good for freeware, with Avast, Avira and Avg being the top three, also has many other useful gadgets...
