This evening I was fitting a little K&N "breather" filter to the crankcase breather tube (which previously was stuck into the stock airbox and I had left naked for a couple of days). Simple job really, shove the little filter onto the tube, fasten with a jubilee clip. Job done. However, it's not so simple if you let go of the jubilee clip before tightening it and let it drop all the way down the breather tube well out of reach :inferno: . Well, after exploring a few new swear words there was nothing for it but to remove the whole frigging intake and heat sheilding to get at that clip. I was quite surprised that I found not one but three lose jubilee clips jangling around down there  . One was the one I'd dropped, another was the one that was supposed to be securing the tube to the crankcase and the 3rd must have been a leftover from a previous attempt to do what I was doing. All fixed up and sorted now. Sometimes these kinds of fcuk ups have a useful ending :)

A quick question for all you petrol heads...
I've just bought a Skoda Octavia 1.8 20v turbo 4wd, which has the same engine as the Audio TT. I understand that it's possible to up the power to 225bhp just by chipping it..
Now the question is, does this mean it won't pass it's MoT due to dodgy emissions and I'll have to re-chip every time it has it's test? And will I notice an extra 50 odd horses with a heavy old estate?

    Len,

Not at all, a correctly designed engine management fuel/ignition map, SHOULD be more efficent (To a point) and therefore have LESS emmissions, never had one of our conversion fail a test on fueling at all.
50bhp is a decent hike in performance, along with the proportinal increase of Torque (more important on a road car) too.
Use a serial port type aftermarket upgrade, you car 'purchase' them for an hour and if you like it, they'll reprogramme th ecu according (up to 7 stages), and when the wagon goes back for services, you just remove the said upgrade with a key the provide, re installing it after the service. simple and effective.
