I used to own some monoblock amps. Not bad. Very warm and cuddly (class A). The chap in charge of BA thought they'd better Pass Labs X1000's errr they didn't! Apart from that it's the first time I've ever found anyone else mention them.

I built one of Erno Borbely's MOSFET amps when his articles first appeared in Audio Amateur, and was quite happy with the outcome. No experience of his later stuff, or the company though. If I still had the time/inclination for serious DIY I'd probably look quite seriously into what he was offering.
