The DPA Enlightenment is a good little DAC, with a lot of the qualities you mention. Cheap second had, so you should be able to get one for well under £400 if you can find one.

Does anyone know about the internal DAC in Myryad MDP 500 digital processor compared to external DACs?
My option is to buy Myryad MP100 preamp + external DAC or MDP500 preamp with DAC for use in 2 channel mode only with the MA240 power amp and Tannoy R2 speakers.
