Cookiemonster (our resident tuner guru) reckoned the Mk2 was worth the extra cash...

erm......i just think for the little more the Mk11 costs it is worth it. The RDS/EON functions are an addition (if you so desire them), as is the rotary tuning dial (which i personally prefer), (remote capability if you want it). The mpx filter and other electronics were developed further, and in addition to that, reliability and quality are less of an issue when buying a product which is potentially as much as 10 years newer. A brand new one can be bought for £90:

and a lot less s/h. Most of them are in sublime condition, as is Neils MK1, as it is the common first budget tuner purchase, and many are upgraded without being used much, or just sold on in mint condition, as many folk buy a tuner for the sake of it, and then realise they don't actually use it much.

    They are both good tuners.

    FYI:

erm, a rock and a hard place - no, buy Neil's :) please

    Forgive my sins.

To balance the argument - the money saved on a Mark1 would pay for an interconnect.....

Why mate? is it a price thing?

Granted you can get a 260l for about £80 these days.... but....

Check out how cheap troughlines are. The fact that they are in a different league to something like a dual/NAD/denon surely isnt in question?

LEAK TROUGHLINE III STEREO legendary tuner checked over by ourselves £120

A troughline II with a modern stereo decoder is a bit more and arguably better - about £200ish

all available from Nick at the emporium of course :D (people are going to think Im on the pay-roll if Im not careful)

Go on, you know u want to :D :D :D

LEAK TROUGHLINE STEREO good serviced with wooden sleeve 160

LEAK TROUGHLINE II good and working nicely 120

studio 12 decoder for leak tuners 65

LEAK TROUGHLINE III mono black and silver serviced 80

LEAK TROUGHLINE STEREO TUNER serviced 120

LEAK TROUGHLINE I metal front in gold or champaign serviced 50

STEREO DECODER new valve model for Leak Troughline, fits inside the tuner 175 skilled DIY or 200 fitted

Choice of 2 decoders there, there are others too. I believe the TDP one in your link was a design done for hifi world a few years ago, and is reputedly pretty good. Bubs got a GT audio decoder I believe which I know he rates. Ive heard the troughline with its own stereo decoder, and even that is very very good IMO...and at £100-120 is a bargain too I think

I think a 'starting bid' of £300 is taking the piss a bit, I mean whats he expecting??? £400-£500? you could get 2-3 of them for that!

    :)
Never bought one myself, I just dont like the music played on the radio much.
