Hmm...interesting stuff. I'll keep it in top gear then when heading downhill, unless I slow down too much in which case it'll be back into neutral. Lots of factors to consider aren't there!
Yes Robert...I have considered the weight of fuel I lug around as I tend to fill her up and forget about it for 2 weeks. Its a factor I'm sure but in the end I prefer going to the garage less regularly! Plus, does it work out cheaper as I'm running on cheaper fuel at some points when Ipurchase before a price rise!?
Narabdela...those common rail diesels are supposed to be alot more efficient than the norm so I guess 60 is achievable with tidy driving. I think my dads renault diesel was doing up towards 70mpg on a long run and thats was an estate. Thinking about it, with any modern diesel it should be possible to get alot of miles per tank I'd have thought.
