    Hi Julian

Im giving this one a miss, cos you live so close we can pop round and have a listen to each others system anytime.

If you need to borrow any kit, like a pre youre welcome.. although I dont think you'll have a problem getting a pre or anything for that matter with the number of people coming!

    Hope its a good one.

Knackers - why is it that my sister ruins every chance of an interesting day out - if it's not missing Altern-8 in Exeter, it's missing a bakeoff.

At least my Bristol Show weekend is being ruined for a good reason - my cousin's 30th - should be a lot of fit (in both senses of the word) women there....

I could have brought my Rega Kytes along...

    Julian,

If you are in need of more amplification, I could bring the Audio Research along. Should go a treat with Steves 7V speakers. It may even make the Kans sound civilised!

    let me know,

    Cheers, Robbo

That would be great Robbo. I assume that you're talking power amp here in which case it would be just the ticket.

I can bring my modified Audcom tube preamp (which is very good) and my Seventh Veil valve filter unit for the Little Awesome bass speakers. Amplification-wise, we then just need stereo power amps for the bass speakers and we'll be set. Anything with good bass and a bit of power - solid state or valve - would do. Anyone?

I can supply a collection of old Linn LK280s which should be at least up to your subwoofers... How many channels do you need?

Thanks Paul. Two channels are required (stereo). What power are they?

80W/8 Ohm, 160/4 etc (or so they claim)

    Steve,

the Audio Research is an integrated amp so we wont need to use a pre. However, no problem with the subs though, as it has line level sub outputs.

Does the line output vary with the amp's volume control? Otherwise we'll have big problems having to adjust the bass speakers' volume every time we adjust the main amp volume.

    Steve,

I'll be back by then, so you are welcome to borrow the Crown K1, one advantage being that you'll be able to change the gain. the other is it's ridiculous damping factor;)

    Merlin,

As you are going to be back, you may as well come along and bring the Fricking Awesomes with you. They'll wake everyone (including the neighbours) up:JOEL:

Can I watch you carry them in?

The Crowns would be an interesting alternative to the Linns

    Well, praise be!
