I hope I can get the new one in!

that means multi tasking...and it looks like he's having trouble with one task as it is... :D

It really did take 2 days to change the clutch cable!! Bloody pain in the arse working around the air con pipes and exhaust. It's a job that could really do with the engine taking out. If I didn't have air con it could have been a breeze-ish.

Anyway, finished that today and the clutch feels lovely. :)

Also new tyres on the front and an oil change.

I made a bloody annoying mistake though. I let out the transmission oil instead of the engine oil... Not as stupid as it sounds because the engine has a splash cover on the bottom to protect from road dirt. ?This cover has some gaps in it for easy access to some parts... like the transmission oil sump plug, but not the engine oil sump plug!!! The transmission oil is usually not changed.. ever! Still, looks like it needed a change lol. I need to fill it up again tomorrow and Haynes says 'an extremely awkward job'. :(

Yay, I finished all my work on the car! :)

I changed the transmission oil and it was quite easy really. I don't know why Haynes said it was awkward. Previously, the car had a little difficulty getting in to reverse sometimes, but now it does it perfectly every time.

I spent a total of ₤1400 on the car and a further ₤200 on the servicing I just did. It drives like a brand new car now, honestly. I think that's a bit of a bargain, so I'm well chuffed. :)

Actually that wasn't the end of my car story :) I found that at high speed there was a vibration and it turned out to be a warped rear tyre due to a slightly binding brake disk. So I changed the brake disks on the back and then had to also put on new rear brake pads (again) as one had been made un-even by the dodgy disk!

Then the hand-brake stopped working right on one side due to a little metal shim being displaced when I foolishly applied the hand-brake with no brake-pads! Many hours of cursing later it was back in and working nicely.

Am I as bad as AT now? :D

Then I took it to have the ECU re-mapped :JPS: The guys at the garage let me know tat I needed a new air-flow sensor. So after the re-map, fitting an air sensor, and a new air-filter, it really goes quite quickly! The difference of the ECU remap is very easy to detect. It's like the engine has been allowed to breath! Before re-map the car did 0-60 in 12.8 sec with a passenger. Afterwards it did it in 9.3 sec. I'm sure I can beat 9 sec if I had no passenger and drove it a bit harder. Well it seems pretty quick to me anyway! I know a good sports car can beat 4 sec, which seems rather insane, but I bet they don't get over 50mpg :p

Air-con also got re-gassed b a nice garage in my town that gives all profit to a charity that educates young offenders. Anyone who needs some work done in that area please consider them - http://www.auto22.co.uk/

You will be worse than me! I am getting my by brand new car soon (hopefully) so hopefully it will put an end to too many hours lost trying to find out what sodding sensor has failed now.

I do have a £180 push bike though which has been causing me some problems, currently at 'alfords now getting repaired under warranty.

I really like the look of your 306, I always dreamed of one but never had the bottle. I reckon they would suit my dad nicely but he doesn't like diesels so it would have to be a nice late late model say 2000 with a TU engine.

The 306 really was one of the last fantastic cars PSA made. The current stuff is just too boring and mainstream.

Edit actually Citroen now make very interesting cars but they are too quirky for me.
