My plan was to do the following, as I am trying to sort the wheat from the chaff and try and form my own opinion...

    1. Build a TNT TTS
    2. Buy a selection of semi-pro shielded cables on 30/40 day sale or return basis ranging between 25 and 80 squids a piece (ask me for a list of links if you need them)
    3. Try and borrow a couple of burned-in Nordost and a couple of Shunyata (getting these will probably prove the hardest thing)
    4. Compare and contrast at my leisure...

Though I have been convinced to get my domestic mains enhanced first...

Why not try a cheap eupen first to see if you like its effects, and take it from there, shunyatas sidewinders are $280 new,you can get them on Audiogon for about $120 for 2 metres.

To the guy with the shunyatas, why dont you take the US plug off and screw on a British one?
Should improvs things a lot more,(especially if you bypass the fuse,if you dont know how i can tell you:MILD: )

Oh, just noticed youre from Spain then you just need to replace it with a euro plug ,easy peasy.

By the way how can I get shunyata direct from the US?

I've had the Shunyatas in my system a good few months,no problems and certainly no fires!

Euro plugs don't have fuses, not anywhere in the plugs, only a main board in the entrance of the house,if there is a problem they just trip,no worries.

I just put a adopter on the end of the US plug,as i dont fiddle, especially when it comes to electricity, and as Tony said it is complicated.

I just Email the sellers in the states, make friends with them, call them so you can judge the person and make a deal,be serious and dont mess around and the action will go through easily, buying the Shunyatas was a touch difficult as i had to do it through bank transfer, which was a touch more exspensive,$30 postage USPS for the two and straight through customs!

I havent but Shunyata fit them on the Britisn ones so there must be a way:) Euro plugs often have more room again so they shouldn't be a prob.
By the way I am in france a lot , none of the mains leads have fuses .I dont worry about fire there and nor does anyone else why should I start worrying when I get back to Blighty?
Mind you thr french are mad;)

I think you'll find on the larger diameter Shunyatas that the UK model is supplied with a US to UK 13 amp adaptor. I found an online supplier in the UK and it apparently is recommended from the manufacturer.

How on earth you get such a large diameter cable into a 13 amp flug is anyone's guess. Why don't they supply them with 16amp or 32amp C-Forms instead, as you can get armoured cable into that no problem.

Like others have mentioned, I would say that if you want Shunyatas the only sensible thing to do would be to buy them s/h from Audiogon. I have seen quite a few on sale s/h recently for about half US retail. If you take into account the current weakness of the dollar (its $1.82 as I write), you can get some amazing bargains.

You are never going to get anywhere near these prices buying from a UK distrubutor.

    Scott,

this is a reply I got from a guy who bought a Shunyata Viper from me (it's an older model, cost about £250 s/h)

The guy was a studio engineer, a vinyl freak, and the CD player was an ARC CD2.

But of course, he may just have been imagining things;)

Also, I believe Audio Research recommend Shunyata power cables and they use them at the factory.

Well, if it's of any interest I purchased Michael[Lab]'s extra Eupen and have swapped it over with the main lead [Kimber classic with chunky 16amp IEC] to my RA Power Block . A quick change of the Eupen IEC to the 16amp version and hey presto. Nice Shuko plug as well :) .

At present I have a viral infection so both my attention span and hearing are pretty poor but the addition of the Eupen immediatly helped reduce a lot of what I could only describe as digital glare.

Over all, a much more organic sound. It will be interesting hear if this is actually a negative affect once my 'tubes' have cleared up.

I've definitely been convinced the Eupen is the benchmark to judge the others for value and or effect....

Had a look at the semi-pro cable builders that were mentioned a couple of post above.

In the end I bought 2 Clearer Audio mains lead to try out.

I should get them Friday so I can sit down over the weekend to see if they make an immediate difference.
